Brilliantly Basic Tomato Sauce

Brilliantly Basic Tomato Sauce
This is how to make the most deliciously simple tomato sauce - forget the jarred stuff - once you've made your own and realise how simple it is, you'll never go back. It's tastier, better for you and you can totally make it your own! It's perfect for a simple pasta but is also great for a nacho dip, poured over potato wedges or topped over veggies on toast.
Ingredients:
1 tin of good quality chopped tomatoes
1 x red onion finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic finely chopped
1 large tbsp tomato puree
2 tsp dried mixed herbs
500g of dried pasta
Salt & pepper for seasoning
METHOD:
Cook your pasta following the instructions on the back of pack.
Once cooked, drain and set aside.
Grab a shallow pan and pop on a medium heat.
Add your oil, garlic and onions and let this cook for a few mins until soft- not letting them burn.
Pour in the tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, & herbs.
Give this a good stir and allow to simmer for 5 mins.
It's that quick… your sauce is now ready.
This is a brilliantly basic sauce to start with, feel free to make this your own with chilli, sun-dried tomatoes, capers or fresh herbs.
