Garlicky Kale With Butterbeans And Chilli Recipe

This delicious jumble of kale and soft garlicky beans is a bowl of whole food goodness that will become a favourite. 

The goodness of kale needs no introduction - we all know its good for us with its high VITAMIN A, K and C content, let along HIGH FIBRE! Butterbeans are not only buttery pillows of loveliness there also pack a punch when it comes to nutrition… they're a great source of PROTIEN, FIBRE & GOOD WHOLE FOOD CARBS. 


Serves 2 or a side for 4 


1 x tin Butterbeans - drained and rinsed 

3 garlic cloves - peeled and chopped

10 stalks of kales - Washed & the woody stalks removed and the leaves roughly torn. 

1 red chilli, seeds removed and chopped

A good glug of olive oil - approx 1 tbsp

Black pepper 

Tamari sauce (or good quality soy sauce) 



1. Get all your ingredients ready. 

2. You will need biggish frying pan - pop it on a medium heat and drizzle in 1 tablespoon of you olive oil.

3. Add your garlic to the pan and allow it to gently cook for 2 mins stiring regularly to prevent it burning. 

4.. Tip in your butterbeans and stir into the garlicy oil.

6. Add the gorgeous Kale followed by a splash of tamari & black pepper. 

7. Gently fold the kale into the beans, garlic and kale until they are all jumbled together. Let the kale wilt in the pan - it''ll change from adark to vibrant green as it cooks.

8. Lastly add your chilli to your taste. If you don’t have a fresh chilli, a few chilli flakes will do the trick to give it a spicy kick. 

9. This only needs 2 mins cook and it ready! 


Serve warm - for that extra crunch top with toasted cashews or pumpkin seeds and an extra drizzle of olive oil.
