Warming Winter Tea Tonic

 

This is a wonderfully soothing, warming, fresh brew, full of delicious ingredients to enjoy any time of the day! Making this on the stove top means that the ingredients get to infuse, mingle and can be topped up with fresh water for a second and third pot!

 

Make a pot to share or to fill a thermos to sip throughout the day. 

 

To make 4 cups:

 

8 - 10 Sage leaves

Approx. 4 inch piece of ginger, sliced

The juice of 1/2 a lemon

6 Black Peppercorns

1 tsp Olive oil

1 tsp Ground Turmeric

2-4 tsp honae, agave nectar or coconut sugar

1 Litre water

 

Method:

1. Put all the sage leaves, lemon juice, black peppercorns, olive oil and ground turmeric in a large saucepan. 

2. Pour in the fresh cold water and mix everything together. Bring the tea to the boil and reduce the temperature to simmer and gently bubble for 2 or 3 minutes.

3. Carefully pour the tea into mugs through a sieve or if your filling a thermos for the day, we would suggest pouring all the tea through a sieve into a jug before pouring it into a flask or insulated water bottle.
